Ultra-Man Tribute

This is not typical of the kind of art-work I do.  But I couldn't resist.  When I did the base coat of red and silver I had to do it.

If you're unfamiliar with Ultra-Man, you really should look him up.  When I was growing up in the 1970's, occasionally I would stumble upon an episode.  And it was like discovering gold.  I LOVED Ultra-Man.  It's a Japanese TV show where a guy would turn into a giant superhero to fight giant Godzilla-like monsters.  It was guys in rubber suits beating each other up, destroying cities in the process.
Back in those days before VCRs or any kind of way to watch what you wanted when you wanted, you were at the mercy of the TV producers.  In a way I think our modern conveniences have taken away some of the special-ness because we can watch whatever we want whenever we want.  The feeling of excitement and elation I felt as a kid when I stumbled onto an episode of Ultra-Man is un-matched by most other events I can think of.
So this project is my nostalgia-laden experiment into a style that I don't normally do.  I love super-heroes and comic-books, but it's not been my style of painting.  No reason, it's just not what I normally paint. I sold this in 2021 but I love how it turned out.
